Baltimore, Inner Harbor
Sept. 28, 2008
The cruising guides are a little out of date. The anchorage in the Inner Harbor is quite small. The last two times we have been there, there has been a “permanently” anchored boat. This time he has taken about a third of the space. Our swing room was compromised so we chose to dock. There is no longer a dinghy dock. The water taxi got tired of cruisers tying up to there dock and getting in the way. It is now off limits. You can pay $15 to the City Dockmaster (VHF 68) for a 4 hour permit to tie to the City dock walls. For $1.25 per foot you can tie up along side a City wall where it states you can do so and stay overnight. You can do the same at the docks and get power and water for an additional $4. No matter where you end up (if you’ve paid an overnight fee) you can get showers next to the marina office under the Rusty Scupper ($25 deposit for key card).

Lots of things to do in the harbor. Museums, the National Aquarium, restaurants galore, Fort McHenry, baseball, football, etc.

Great market close by at Cross Street in Federal Hill and a CVS and Whole Foods in Little Italy (Exeter and Fleet Streets). A Safeway is located in Fells Point accessible by dinghy.

While I try to get this section to work, let’s try this link to the google map showing our anchorages and mooring sites. I have included information on nearby facilities as well.

Choose from the maps menu which ones you’d like to see.

About s/v Marylee

John bought a 23 foot O'day sailboat which he lovingly restored. We enjoyed sailing it so much that we bought a bigger boat, a 40 foot O'day. A couple of years ago we decided to plan for a retirement lifetime of cruising on the 40 foot sailboat. Now we are retired and we're underway on our lifetime journey on the 40 foot O'day. The 23 foot O'day is in good hands with the Fuller family.

Thank you all for your support. Please follow us along on our journey.
